WALTHAM VS. MEDFORD
| Posted by TheCoach on Monday, April 28 @ 18:49:35 EDT (144 reads)
On Sunday, the GU16 Lady Hawks kicked off against Medford up on a cool and windy field in Woburn.
Both teams came out fast, but it was Medford that would strike first. The score stayed at 1 - nil till the end of the first half. Early on in the second half, Medford would fire a high shot into the upper corner of Walthams goal to make it 2 - nil. The Lady Hawks would not quit though. Near the 60th minute, the Hawks finally got the break they were looking for. A nice feed from Emily in the midfield would set up Kristie to unleash a hard shot that would find the back of Medfords goal. Waltham was back in it.
Unfortunately, as the time wound down, Waltham could not find the eaqualizer they were looking for and Medford would once again find the back of the Lady Hawks goal. When the 80th minute hit, the score was 3 -1 Medford.
Keep playing hard and believe in yourselves.

WALTHAM VS. DRACUT
| Posted by TheCoach on Wednesday, April 23 @ 22:36:21 EDT (76 reads)
Without a starting or back-up Goal Keeper in the line up, the Lady Hawks would go to the bench for an unknown and give it all they had for an 80 minute battle with a very tough Dracut team.
With the changes in the line in place, the Hawks made a valient effort in holding off a very aggressive attacking front line of Dracut, but it would not be enough. The Hawks would fall 3 goals behind in a very short amount of time. Some good striking runs were made, but denied by the defense of Dracut. With more adjustments in place for the second half, the Hawks showed some signs of improvement. Getting the ball deep in Dracuts 1/3 of the field they were able to pull off a few very nice corner kicks and shots on goal, but once again, were denied. When the final whistle blew, the score would sit at 7 - nil in favor of Dracut.
Hold your heads high Lady Hawks. This weekend is another game and another chance to show what you have on the field.

This Sunday, "Lady Luck" was not with the Lady Hawks of Waltham.
The game started off on a steady pace and played out as such for the first 40 minutes. The score sat at nil - nil. After the half time break, all the breaks went Wilmington's way. Waltham played hard but fell behind with two goals going into the 55th minute. A late charge by the Wildcats of Wilmington would make the final score 3 - Nil.
Lets regroup this week and get ready for next weeks game

WALTHAM VS. NORTH READING
| Posted by TheCoach on Sunday, April 06 @ 20:38:34 EDT (150 reads)
It was cold, windy, and wet, but that didn't stop the GU-16 Lady Hawks from taking the field to battle it out with North Reading.
The first half was filled with battles for the ball on all sides of the field. Waltham had their chance to strike first with a long shot from the midfield, but would be denied. Near the 35th minute, North Reading almost found the back of the net in a "Pinball" effect of confusion in front of Waltham's goal. A final ringer off the post would be pulled in by Danielle to end the mayhem.
The second half began and the Hawks had the ball in North Reading's third of the field for most of it. The wind had picked up and the weather got colder. In an attempt to break a nil nil deadlock, Kristie got the chance she had been looking for all game. She broke into open space and ripped a hard clean shot high at the goal from just inside the 18, but would be denied by a great save by North Reading's keeper. Shifts in the Waltham line would bring them close to breaking the tie, but when the final whistle blew, the score would end in a 0 - 0 tie.
Great job on your first game
